Soviet war in Afghanistan: 1979-1989

The land of the Afghans has seen my invaders descending on it over the millennia: in the fourth century B.C, Alexander the Great -Megas Alexandros- reigned in the land, and had "Kandahar" named after him. Many invaders followed: The ruthless Mughal rulers of South Asia, the Russian Tsars, the British Empire, the Soviet Union, and currently, Uncle Sam and his puppets..

All previous invasions have ended in crippling defeat.. Time will tell how the last one ends..



This country had suffered miseries at the hands of foreigners.. Use of sheer power to dismantle the country, installing puppet regimes (the Soviets installed Babrak Karmal) and the US bombed Afhanistan (in their words) "back to the middle-age" and installed their client regime led by Hamid Karzai...

Yesterday's "Mujahedeen" and "freedom-fighters" are today's "terrorists".. It depends who's running the circus.. and a freak one at that.
